As smart phone devices are increasingly taking over as central communications and entertainment devices,
today's travelers tend to be familiar with at least one of the major brands of smart phones or mobile devices, be it
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, HTC phones, or Google Android supported phones.
With MVI's Second Screen solution*, hotel guests can access in-room entertainment and infotainment options
on their (or hotel-provided) mobile devices anywhere in the hotel for the duration of their stay.
Based on telco carrier class designs, MVI's Second Screen solution enables state-of-the-art mobile TV services
which provides hotel guests with access to TV channels and VOD content through their mobile device.
MVI’s Second Screen solution is also an ideal platform for extending many value added services, including hotel
promotions, advertising and eCommerce applications that increase hotels' revPar.

Managing Guest Access to Mobile Hospitality Services
The Second Screen can be deployed as part of MVI's
Hotel IPTV in-room entertainment solution, which
comprises a complete TV, VOD and infotainment
solution with an easy to use user interface.
However, hotels can also install the Second Screen on
top of their existing in-room entertainment service,
provided an enterprise class WIFI network that supports
continuous reliable streaming of Unicast UDP traffic is in
place.
The Second Screen as a stand alone solution comprises
the following hardware and software components:
MVI's MIP Middleware
MVI's VIP-ER Transcoder (or VIP-ER Encoder, if there is no pre-existing IP video source)
MVI's VIP-OD Video Server
Connecting the hotel guest to his/her own or the
hotel-provided mobile device is easy.
Upon check-in, the hotel guest will be given a Mobile
Device Access ID from the 'Personalisation' or 'Setup'
Screen.
By activating his mobile device, e.g. an iPad, with the
Access ID using the hotel's WIFI network, the mobile
device will be paired to his/her room. The pairing will be
active throughout his or her stay in the hotel..
The set up is very similar to accessing broadband
services from the hotel room for the duration of the
stay.
